Details for 2012 events can be found in the events section. Hyde Sails will again take the role of lead sponsor. In both 2010 and 2011 Hyde Sails generously presented the winners with a voucher for a new sail. With such an appropriate and high value prize you can expect some quality Flying Fifteen racing in Scotland in 2012. Thanks also to Samteq and our other sponsors, details in the Sponsors section.
This year the series will include a weekend in the deep south - Derwent Reservoir, a North East of England club with a long tradition of FF racing will be hosting an event which will count towards the series. It is anticipated that this will encourage a few south of the border crews to join in the series.
Fifteeners are heading for a great year as in addition to the Travellers series the UK Nationals take place in late July at Largs. This is expected to be the biggest one design event in scotland. Not to be missed. We hope to add another venue (East Coast ?) for a May event so stay tuned. The format of this site will also be changed soon (with thanks to Samteq) to keep you up to date so please do bookmark this site and visit again soon. Each event offers the opportunity for socialising, racing and plenty of sight seeing. The Scottish Flying Fifteen Travellers Series has developed along informal lines to encourage folk to get out and about and enjoy good sailing, good company and splendid venues.
The sailing venues are spread around central and west scotland. The scenery is great, the racing is fun and the hospitality and craic after the sailing is worth turning up for just on its own. Through this website you are invited to join in.
If you do not own a Flying Fifteen yet you could do worse than check out www.flying15.org.uk where you can find out all about these excellent little raceboats and where to buy one.
How to get Involved.
If you go to any of the listed events then your results are included in the Series. If you attend 4 or more events your results are included in the series totals. Enter each event directly with the appropriate club. You do not have to actively enter the series as your event results will be automatically included in the series results.
So that’s easy ! no extra entry fee and no extra paperwork – just turn up, sail and enjoy. The dates and venues for 2012 will appear on the Events page.
